04/27/2005: Today's Great Baseball Achievement:
Congratulations to St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Mark "Grudz" Grudzielanek, who "hit for the cycle" in this afternoon's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
[For those of you who don't play the home game, a player "hits for the cycle" when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in one game (not necessarily in that order, though Wayne Hagin in his play-by-play mentioned that the last Cardinal to hit for the cycle did so in that order--John Mabry on May 18, 1996. To hit a single, double, triple, and home run in that order is sometimes referred to as "a natural cycle").]
