04/06/2005: Speaking of Road Hazards...
As Lauren (our teenie-bot 15 yr. old daughter) has completed her Green Light School Driver’s education course and those Illinois Rules of The Road -- we have moved on to Karen’s Rules of the Road.
The most important FIRST RULE being:
NEVER drive behind Old Men in Hats.
I don’t care what State’o’the Union ya live in…this is always Rule #1 and is followed closely by it’s corollary: Never drive behind Blue Haired Old Ladies (affectionately called "Granny Grips".)
If you take a look at the traffic screw ups and accidents in your area, you will begin to see that 98.999% of ALL of them are caused by some Old Man in a Hat. (The other 1.1% being evenly divided between Blue Haired Old Ladies and the rest of them drivers on the road.) But the worst accidents and road blocks and Gape-ers delays are always the result of Old Men in Hats.
And don’t be fooled by appearances, sometimes these Old Men try to trick you and leave their hats on the seat next to them. Look closer and you'll be able see that hat as you breeze past to stay out of the way of these menaces. Those Old Men in Hats --They are muuuurder to drive behind.
If not faithfully avoided, Old Men in Hats will cause YOU to have a traffic accident too...or at the very least a severe case of Road Rage needing extra strength sedatives to combat.
So, Be Safe, Drive Carefully and remember Rule #1: NEVER drive behind Old Men in Hats.
