02/03/2005: Post Groundhog Day recap....
Basically, because I wasn't exactly thrilled with living in Chicago during
my sojourn there (I think I've gone on record in the past as saying that
if we could arrange to move Wrigley Field out of the blast radius, I'd have
no big problems with nuking Chicago; of course I exaggerate, but not by
much *g*), and because I can't resist the urge to goose Karen, who's a Chicagoland
denizen.... :-)
The Brookfield Zoo tried their damnedest to get one of their resident groundhogs,
Stormy and Cloudy, to come out of winter quarters long enough to do the
furry meteorologist thang, but they just couldn't get them to cooperate,
even using a nice, fresh, homemade carrot-shaped cake as bait, so they
had to settle for their second stringer: Maddy The Skunk.
Actually, in fairness Cloudy Groundhog did eventually come out and do his
marmosal duty, but he took his dear sweet time, not bothering to come out
until around 11:35 AM, CST or so. For those dying to know, both Maddy and
Cloudy saw their shadows, so....
Somehow, I find the idea of a skunk forecasting Six More Weeks Of A Chicago
Winter strangely appropriate, but I'm just being my cynical self.

More proof that "Maddy and Cloud" MUST be on the government "journalist payroll" because THERE WAS NO SUN here yesterday...so NO Shadow could be found...these groundhog must be "on the take" to produce biased, government influenced weather reporting. Where will this all end????? Is there NO SHAME if the White House can "buy off" even our wildlife??? What is the world coming to....

Um, are you sure there was no sun in Brookfield?
