02/02/2005: Stacking the Deck...Yet Again...
The Right-wing conservatives, not content with the media controlled, propaganda spewing machine it already has created and runs (ad nauseum) over the airwaves, has taken to "creating quasi-fake" news organizations such as Talon News (that don't bill themselves as "Fake News Purveyors" right up front like Jon Stewart's The Daily Show.) Media Matters has sent a letter to the White House Press Sec., Scott McClellan, on the matter.
Instead...these non-journalism credentialled folks pretend to be an "independent real-news agency" and gain access to the White House press conferences to provide soft-ball (comic) relief. When the "going gets tough"...McClellan gets his "go-to guy," Jeff Gannon (of Talon News), to be his "lifeline" to pro-administration double-speak seg-ways into administration friendly topics.
Oh...the fun just continues...(FYI Charlie was a jounalism broadcast major and former radio DJ in the Quad-Cities and news anchor at Channel 12, Milwaukee...in a past-life, and he's constantly appalled by the level journalism has sunk to since he worked in the Biz and the repealing of the "Equal Time" provisions that used to inform news casting decisions.)
