For a musical rendition of my Phobia click on
Karen's phobia. (And some day....way, way off in the distant future I'll regale you with My Phobia Funny Stories...just NO pictures, please!)
I've always gone for the Spanish version of Tiburonaphobia; Len, the Trivia Master, informs this is really called: selachophobia.
Click on more button to look below the "flap" to see all the "phobia" things I don't like:

Shark celeb spot appearences & cartoons:

Places I've "hung out with sharks":

Sea World Underwater Tube walkway
Places I've been snorkling "a little too close" to sharks:
Buck Island Nat. Park - St. Thomas / St Croix
Aruba scuba diving
Sting Ray Bay- Caymen Islands
Cancun Mexico
ps. My own pet theory about my selachophobia is (if I believed in reincarnation) was that I must have been some sea-creature that got EATEN by a shark in a past life OR I'm going to get EATEN in the future...so I'm worried about it NOW. Psychic memories die hard! (and I did google "selachophobia" and found tons of listings...but --since I'm a chicken-- I don't want to go clicking on entires without knowing how many of them don't put up pictures of sharks? You'd think writing information meant for people *AFRAID* of sharks they'd "get it" about why NOT to include pictures..but....)

Where the heck did you get "tiburonaphobia" from? Note the number of hits you get googling "selachophobia" vs. the number you get googling "tiburonaphobia", and come to your own conclusions.
Note that for the record "official" phobia names are coined by adding the Greek (preferred) or Latin (alternate) root for the thing feared to the suffix "-phobia", which derives from the Greek for "fear" (hence, the preference for Greek roots over Latin ones).
The use of languages not Greek or Latin is deprecated, save in very casual contexts. For example, I'd forgive your using "sharkophobia" in a post, given that "selachophobia" would zing right over most people's heads. But "tiburonaphobia" is right out....

Tiburon is the Spanish word for SHARK. Besides...as I already cop-ed...I don't speak or know Latin. (LOL) I've tried to read as much about them as I could (You should never not KNOW about what you're afraid of)...but YOU try finding a book about sharks without any PICTURES of them. So, I've never come across their Latin classification/designation...must not have been in the few books I could read.
But this Tiburon was a pretty good substitute...worked for me ;-)
