01/25/2005: Abby finds the neatest things....
and for those of you who aren't as left-leaning as me, this one isn't political, and doesn't concern itself with dog crap.... (Confused? See here. You're welcome.)
Back in college I was a fan (still am) of the Dutch graphic artist, M.C. Escher. If you are too (or even if you're just passing familiar with Escher's work), check this out:
Actually, the things you can do with Lego™ bricks when you put your mind to it is absolutely amazing. A pleasant honeymoon memory from my second marriage was visiting the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (marry me, and I'll take you weird places, guaranteed), where they had on display a model of a medium endurance cutter in Lego™s. If you have The Special Edition 2 DVD set of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (I do!), you know that one of the special goodies is a Lego™ animation of the classic "We're the Knights of the Round Table" song and dance number. Not all that long ago I blogged about the guy who was commissioned to build a fully functional office desk of Lego™s; if you go to his homepage you can see lots of other things he's done (mosaics and sculpture, mostly) in Lego™ . And don't forget The Brick Testament: you'll never quite look at the Bible the same way again.
Credit where credit is due: Abby found this, probably when she should be dissertating.

The more I'm supposed to dissertate, the more I blog and the more time I waste online. I find my stuff either on Boing Boing or on Tribe. This one I found on that show Screensavers, which I'd never seen before. It's like a news show for Internet nerds. It wasn't all that interesting, but they did share that link. Pretty cool, huh?!
