01/25/2005: Administration Lap Dog and Apologist, David Brooks, Implodes…again.
David Brook (NY Times columnist and Ivory Tower pundit of the Conservative Right) has imploded…once again…over his interpretation of the import and meaning in the President’s inaugural speech. Even Daddy Bush was quick to let the media know…GW Jr’s speech should in not way be taken to indicate a change in the foreign policy objectives of the US.
Whew!!! Now that was close one. Brooks thought Bush's speech might actually mean something! Wrong, Again.
But Brooks has imploded before (actually, he does so on quite a regular basis by my count.)
Last fall he wrote a more than peculiar column : "Ruling Class War" attempting to divine meaning out of political support based on defining America as divided between "spreadsheet-people” versus some category of supposed “paragraph-people" and extrapolating that to the "classism" this reveals stratified among society. (Gee…other than Actuaries and CPA’s, I’d be hard pressed to label us a “spread-sheet” society, any more than we are a “paragraph people” society….only from the mouth of David Brooks could this nonsense spew forth.)
Prompting me to ask him:who's supply you with your drugs of choice" that have clearly sent you careening down an Alice-in-Wonderland path where the normal reader just can not follow or care to take that tumble down the rabbit hole with you (however much fun you seem to be having down there.)
Please quit the mind-altering substances and join us here in the real world, talking about real things that have something to do with issues at hand and lay off the rot-gut "mondo-neo-Marxist" wino-juice you're regurgitating on the rest of us.
Brooks frequently spouts Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee nonsense as re-writes and re-authors quotes from political figures and then presumes to pontificate on these flagrant Jason Blairisms.
But he’s been overruled on this Inaugural speech interpretation by the very sources and insider know-it-alls around the White House, Western White House stretching all the way to Kennebunkport.
