01/20/2005: A holiday for the rest (few) of us...
I received an announcement that the Rationalists of East Tennessee are co-sponsoring the 2005 celebration of Darwin Day at Knoxville, Tennessee on February 9 and 10, 2005, on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. The program looks interesting; featured guest will be Michael Shermer, Director of The Skeptics Society and author of Why People Believe Weird Things: Pseudoscience, Superstition, and Other Confusions of Our Time; How We Believe: Science, Skepticism, and the Search for God; and The Science of Good and Evil: Why People Cheat, Gossip, Care, Share, and Follow the Golden Rule, among other books.
In case you are unclear on the concept of "Darwin Day", you can find further information here. Sponsors of Darwin Day at Knoxville are Rationalists of East Tennessee, the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, UTK, and the School of Journalism and Electronic Media, UTK.
