01/16/2005: The end is nigh?
From the SI.com (Sports Illustrated) website, under the heading "Signs of the Apocalypse":
A high school basketball game in Vermont ended with Bellows Free Academy-Fairfax beating Milton 5-2. Just three shots were made, none in the second half. That is either magnificent defense on behalf of both teams, or magnificent offensive incompetence on the part of both teams. I wonder which.

At the other end of the spectrum, there was a college basketball game a few years ago (maybe between Drake and Grinnell?) whose final score was 162-110.
Imagine scoring 110 points in a college game and still losing by 52.

Grinell (D-II school, I believe) supposedly plays a frenetic up-temo game, a la Loyola Marymount in the Hank Gathers years, that leads to increased scoring.
