Lee Jenkins, in an article in today's New York Times, notes that Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig has apparently given his approval to the proposed trade that will send Arizona Diamondbacks southpaw Randy Johnson to the New York Yankees.
I know, I'm astonished too. (Dammit, what's the HTML tag for "sarcasm"?)
The Yankees now have 72 hours to negotiate a contract extension with Johnson, whose contract runs out at the end of this season. And what's the likelihood that this deal is going to fall through?
