12/31/2004: Sometimes, things work out...
Today, as has become "traditional" for me (i.e., I've done this the past few years now), my New Year's Eve/New Year's Day consists of locking myself into my apartment and watching as much as I can of SciFi's annual New Year's Twilight Zone marathon.
As a Indian Wars/Little Bighorn buff, a number of people have asked me if I've ever seen "The 7th Is Made Up Of Phantoms", a 5th season Twilight Zone episode which relates the story of three National Guardsmen, on maneuvers near the site of Custer's Last Stand, who find themselves somehow plunged into the battle itself. So far, I've never gotten a chance to see it.
Until 2:30 PM today--ten minutes from now--when it is the next scheduled episode in the marathon.
Sometimes, life is good.
UPDATE: Pretty good episode. And one of the pleasures of watching old Twilight Zone episodes is getting glimpses of TV and movie stars, often before they became stars. In this one was a shockingly young Warren Oates ("You mean he wasn't born 50 years old?") and a young Greg "Barney Collier" Morris as a National Guard lieutenant.
