12/16/2004: In case you're yearning for this information....
The "Ask BA" column at Baseball America has 1) a listing of the compensatory draft picks that have been generated to date by the movement of free agents between teams, and 2) a listing of the remaining free agents whose signings with other teams will result in compensatory draft picks being generated. Interesting....
So far the Cardinals get a first round pick (compensation for the Sawx signing Edgar Renteria), two supplemental first-round picks (one as compensation for the Renteria signing, and the other as compensation for the Giants signing Mike Matheny), and a second round pick (more compensation for the Matheny signing).
