12/02/2004: A WTF moment....
Tuned to SpikeTV, waiting for my latest guilty pleasure, Hey! Spring of Trivia (great show; where else will you learn that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart actually wrote a song titled "Lick My Ass"?, but still no IMDB entry, at least under that name) and new episodes of MXC to boot. I note that they're running the Mountain Dew "Spy vs. Spy" spots--basically, someone turned the inspired Mad magazine strip by the late Antonio Prohias into some CGI mini-animations. Actually, they're pretty cute and capture, as well as anyone not Antonio Prohias can, some of the delightful absurdity of the constant struggle between the two absurd spies.
But one thing is bugging me... In every commercial, one of the spies buys a Mountain Dew from a Mountain Dew machine, but he drops only one quarter into the machine before pushing the button.
Where the hell can you buy a Mountain Dew from a machine for a mere two bits? If you know where, let me know; I see an opportunity for a little arbitrage here....
