12/01/2004: Live from Cafe Francisco....
I resisted as long as I could.... There are 10 of us here all having a bangup time (10 by my count; keep in mind that my counting skills are pretty much those of the Kalahari Bushmen--"One, two, many..."--so that count could be significantly off). If my memory hasn't completely crapped out on me, the crowd tonight is:
- Our gracious "host" (the organizing genius behind Bash III), Eric Janssen (Eric and I are holding up the the geek side of the house, having both brought our laptops)
- Local News Diva Peggy Phillip
- Phil Harwell
- Mick (of Fishkite), who brought the statutory party favors, and with whom a most excellent conversation about baseball was had (I'll even forgive him for being a Cubs fan :-) )
- Brock Sides, the Memphis based third of Signifying Nothing
- Abby ("Adventures with Lady Cutie Troublemaker"; if Abby is referring to herself by the use of "Lady Cutie Troublemaker", I'll risk her wrath by testifying that the "cutie" part of that title isn't false advertising; she didn't cause very much trouble tonight though)
- Aaron Hurley, who's sort of a blogger-in-suspension (we're trying to give him motivation to get back into blogging)
- Mark Richens of the Commercial Appeal's "Memphis Scene", and
- last, but certainly not least, Mike Hollihan (while Mike's blog Half-Bakered is currently in suspension, Mike gives us some hope that he may take up the blogging habit again after the end of the year; I'm keepiing my fingers crossed, since it's a bitch not having Mike around to read the Memphis papers so I don't have to)
[Yes, I know there are only 9 names up there. Give it a few minutes thought and you can figure out who the missing 10th is. Modesty forbids me....]
UPDATE: Good God, how could I have forgotten. This evening's dignified insurrection was once again, as have been previous Blogger's Bashes, worthy of:

Back into blogging?! He NEVER blogged, but I'm hoping the evening shamed him into doing so. I'm glad you posted all the names here. I was just trying to find everyone's blog, and you did the work for me. Thanks!

Actually, you should have waited a few minutes and I'd have had the links posted there for you. All save Eric's other two blogs (it's a bitch trying to fit three blogs into one link...) :-)

Oh NOW I see them. Thanks for the compliment. My troublemaking is generally towards the shenanigans type of troublemaking rather than the lawbreaking type, just so you know.
Hey, I think Aaron might be blogging! I'm gonna be REAL quiet and see if it happens. Ssssshhh!

I got them on my blog now too. They're in the Live Update post. And yes, there were 10 Memphis bloggers in attendance. And if we all try real hard I bet the Memphis Flyer will write an entire Fly on the Wall column about it.
;o)
I left a list of Vietnamese restaurant LOCATIONS in my blog comments but I can't remember any names. They're all Pho something. Ask Brock, he seems to know.

By Gawd, Aaron was indeed blogging. To celebrate that auspicious occasion, both Aaron and Abby get enshrined (if that's the correct word) in the blogroll, under "Memphis Blogs Not Members of The Rocky Top Brigade". If either of y'all wind up being inducted into the RTB, I'll move you.
And OK, I see the list of locations there. I'll start with the one next to Tucker's on Madison, since that seems to be closest to me, and work my way from there. Thanks!

There you go!
And just remember, if you enjoyed this evening just half as much as I did, then I enjoyed it twice as much as you.

I love you guys. And gal. Seriously. Wish I didn't have to run out and parent. Some things are more important than blogging.
Did I write that?

You did, but we'll forgive you.
Just make sure it doesn't happen again.

I was seriously going to pass, but changed my damn fool mind at the last minute. I'm glad I did. Had a great time and got to meet three new (to me) bloggers!
No decisions until January, but I'll likely come back to blogging now. Not sure in what form. We'll see.
