12/01/2004: Thought for the Day:
Dec. 25 Christmas. Not much to say as you almost never hear anything about this obscure holiday.... at least not much before the 20th of October when they start banging the sales drum. At one time Xmas was illegal in America and England (and I assume Canada & Australia as well?) till it was brought back in part by the efforts of Charles Dickens. In revenge for this his novel A Christmas Carol has been remade by Hollywood something like 9,222,340 times and counting with everybody from Mr. Magoo to the Quantum Leap people without a half penny being paid to the Dickens estate. Hollywood LOVES a good story on which the copyright has expired.
