11/05/2004: It's up to you, Mr. President....
I've heard the audio clips, how you've said you want to reach out to those of us who voted for your opponent. How you've said you don't intend to impose your religious notions on those who don't share them.
Pardon me if I think you're just spouting more bullshit. You don't get a "fresh start", not with me. You see, sir, you have this thing called "a record" from the last four years. You said you were going to be a uniter, not a divider. You campaigned in 2000 as a "moderate", a "compassionate conservative". We weren't going to indulge in military expeditions and nation building overseas. You told us that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (guess again!!!).
When I've looked at what you've said, and then I look at reality, I can come to only one conclusion: there's one infallible way to tell if George W. Bush is lying--just check to see if his lips are moving. And I have no reason to believe your post-2004 election bullshit is any more sincere than your pre-and-post-2000 election bullshit.
But I don't mind being proved wrong (see: http://www.cleavelin.net/archives/00001088.htm). So it's up to you. Actions speak louder than words, and your actions have belied your words at every turn. So take some positive steps in the right direction. Fire John Ashcroft's ass (and not just to appoint him Chief Justice in place of Rehnquist, CJ, as the latest rumors have suggested). Fire Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Feith. Don't treat the true moderates in your own party like shit (does the name of Jim Jeffords ring a bell?).
Act like you give a shit about those of us who didn't support you, and maybe I'll believe your conciliatory rhetoric.
Meanwhile, don't expect me to hold my breath waiting.
