11/04/2004: Forgive me....
but I'm a bit of a natural pessimist; for me the glass tends to be half empty, and I'm often more interested in the hole than the doughnut. So when I hear a few of the liberal commentators point out that more voters voted against the Crawford Village Idiot Tuesday than ever voted against any sitting president in history, my mind immediately generates the counter question:
Does that mean more voters voted for Bush than for any other sitting president? [On the other hand, since I've not heard of any wingnuts claiming that yet, maybe it isn't true.]
UPDATE: Air America News verifies my pessimism, stating today that yes, Bush garnered more votes than any other President (or candidate) in U.S. history. Somehow I figured as much.

Kerry's vote total now (it will be higher when the votes are certified) was higher than any other vote received by anyone, even Reagan's second term 49-state landslide.
But two people broke Reagan's record this time, and Bush by more.
But it was like Ben Johnson's win at the Olympics, setting an Olympic and world record. Enhanced.

Aha, something like McGwire and Sosa both breaking Roger Maris's record.... poor Sosa, and poor Kerry, eh?
