10/25/2004: Auction watch:
Barry Bonds's #700 home run ball is now up to: $820,293.00
Speaking of auctions, while I'm on the subject, I just got word from eBay that I'm the lucky winner of an auction of 20 "vintage" baseball cards featuring Bruce Sutter, Lee Smith, and Dan "Quiz" Quisenberry. The connection being, of course, that all three men were relief pitchers for the Cardinals in the '80s and '90s, though it's only a couple of the Bruce Sutter cards that actually feature him in a Cardinals uniform, if I read the auction correctly. Still, it sounded like a group of cards I wouldn't mind having, and now I will, soon.
