10/20/2004: Finally getting a chance to check in on Game 6 of the NLCS today....
And it looks like the Good Matty Mo (or at least the acceptable Matt Morris) showed up; the score is 4-3 Cardinals in the bottom of the 5th, and Tony LaRussa just pinch hit John Mabry for Morris (it's two out with men on base), so that's the end of Morris today. Not bad. Just as long as our bullpen tightens up a bit; it's not like they've been on their A-games this series.
If we can just hold on..... I don't wish ill on anyone, but I'd feel much better about our chances if Roger Clemens would come down with something.... say a 24 hour gastrointestinal nasty that would take him out of tomorrow's game--nothing serious or fatal, just uncomfortable enough to keep him from pitching.
I know; it's a more satisfying win if we can beat Clemens if he's on his best game, but the likelihood of that? According to Ray Mileur of The Cardinals Birdhouse (in a private email to me today), Clemens is 2-0 with a one-point-thirtysomething ERA at Busch this season.
I'd rather take my chances with someone else, thank you.
