10/14/2004: Thought for the Day:
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have renewed their psychodrama in the American League Championship Series. This isn't a rivalry. It's tabloid-rage baseball.
If the Yankees and Red Sox were a TV show, they'd be "The Sopranos." If the Cardinals and Astros were a TV show, they'd be "The Little House on the Prairie."
And in the National League Championship Series, we have the little St. Louis Cardinals and the little Houston Astros and their friendly Central Division competition. It's a series that will be played without tire irons, Tim McCarver, Joe Buck, Charles Manson lookalikes, egomaniacal owners and Pedro Martinez's mascot.
