is the 93rd anniversary of the naming of the first recipients of the Most Valuable Player awards in each league, then called the "Chalmers" award after Hugh Chalmers, President and General Manager of the Chalmers Motor Company, the sponsor of the award. The first recipients? Ty Cobb, of the Detroit Tigers, and Frank "Wildfire" Schulte of the Chicago Cubs.
