Hey, Len -
Randi Rhodes said it best for me today on Air America: "I want a president who's smarter than me."

At the risk of putting on airs, while I'd prefer a president who's smarter than me, I'll certainly settle for a president whom I can consider more or less an intellectual equal. Assuming arguendo that Bush isn't stupid, I find his simplistic faith, his inflexibility, his inability to admit mistakes, and his general lack of curiosity about the world and inability to think beyond his narrow point of view to make it highly unlikely I'd regard him as an equal in that way.
Unlike many Americans, I'm not even sure I'd like to have a beer with him. Unless he was buying, and I didn't have to acknowledge him beyond saying "thanks" at the end of the evening.
