10/01/2004: I'd have never guessed it....
Given that Tom Skerritt's most noteworthy role (IMHO) has been as Capt. Augustus Bedford "Duke" Forrest in Robert Altman's MASH, and that it's seemed to me that he's generally specialized in playing Southerners, I was surprised to learn (while looking up Skerritt in the IMDB to try to verify if it's him that I'm seeing in a rerun of Combat! that's playing before the Cards-Brewers game tonight) that Skerritt was in fact born in Detroit, Michigan, and attended college at Wayne State University.
