09/15/2004: I guess there are some things a man is never meant to understand....
Had to take care of my driver's license renewal today, and while I was at the DL office, two reasonably attractive young ladies in reasonably revealing clothes caught my eye (easy anytime, and especially easy then because, like a fool, I'd brought nothing to read; owing to a brain fart (I guess) it never occurred to me that I'd be spending most of my time there waiting). One was wearing a short skirt that was slit very high up her left thigh (at least 3/4 of the way, maybe more, revealing a lot of a gorgeous leg whenever she crossed her legs as she sat, except for her repeated execution of the maneuver I describe below), and the other was wearing a combination of a high cut "crop top" with low cut "hip hugger" jeans, showing off a very nice midriff.
The thing that I noticed most about both young ladies (even scoping babes gets boring after a while, especially since they weren't scoping back--not like I'd expect them to, I am old enough to definitely be one's father, and probably am old enough to be the other's) was that both of them, as they sat there, were trying to minimize their exposure. Ms. Slit Skirt sat with her left hand pulling together the sides of the slit and holding them in place (save when she was filling out paperwork or otherwise in need of both hands for more important jobs), while Ms. Crop Top kept pulling down the bottom of her top and pulling up her jeans, obviously trying to minimize her midriff exposure.
Why?
I mean, it's highly improbable that some demented guy forced his way into their homes this morning and forced them at gunpoint to wear these outfits.... If they didn't want to expose as much of themselves as they were exposing, why bother wearing clothes that were designed to expose that much of themselves?
Some mysteries of the universe will never be solved, I fear.

I agree with you though, girls nowadays have no concept of context appropriate dress. Watch the Apprentice tonight to see what passes for business wear. As for young girls, I think they're clueless.
