09/15/2004: This doesn't surprise me at all....
From the Associated Press we learn that in Muhlenburg Township, PA, a man accused of drunk driving showed up drunk for his preliminary hearing. His explanation to the judge? We'll let the judge tell the story:
"You don't show up drunk for a preliminary hearing, especially when it's a drunk-driving case," Patton said. "I asked him what he was thinking and he said, 'You told me I could drink at home."'Or as one of my law professors was fond of saying:
