09/02/2004: MVP Watch
Over at The Cardinals Birdhouse Brian Walton cites a USA Today Sports Weekly straw vote that concurs with my analysis (which is concurred in by Bernie Miklasz):
Split Vote in NL MVP Continues
In this month’s USA Today Sports Weekly’s straw MLP vote, the Cardinals’ showing is #2 (Rolen), #4 (Pujols) and #5 (Edmonds). Since last time, Pujols dropped behind Adrian Beltre as Edmonds passed Jim Thome. Barry Bonds remains a clear #1. However, if one could total any two of the Cardinals’ stars’ votes, the combined player would have enough to pass Bonds.

I woudn't mind that if it got one of our boys the credit he deserves. Unfortunately (and I forget who said this), it's gotten to the point where "MVP" has become part of Bonds's job description.
Then again, the man is no mere mortal.....
