09/01/2004: One more thing to hate Bud Selig about....
(Anyway, I'm going to blame it on Selig, though it's entirely possible that the Cardinals decided to "just do it", as it were....) Apparently the Commissioner's office turned down the Cardinals' request to have Rick Ankiel get one more rehab start; Cardinal Nation reports that Ankiel's been re-activated off the 60 day disabled list and placed on the active roster, making him eligible for the postseason. If I'm reading that correctly, that totally blows any chance that he'll be starting in Memphis on Friday (which is when I have tickets).
Damn, managed to miss both Thompson and Ankiel (though in my defense, I didn't have much choice re: Ankiel, as he was brought up to AAA while the Redbirds were on a fairly long road trip, the PCL scheduling gods having really (IMHO) screwed up the last couple weeks of the season; at least I did get to see Adam Wainwright once, so that ought to count for something).
