As the Cleveland Indians handed the New York Yankees their worst loss in the franchise's history, soundly thrashing the Yanks by the football score of 22-0. That deserves a line score:

Meanwhile, the Yankees, in a swoon as of late, are starting to fuel speculations about a potential collapse in the AL East pennant race (as a Cardinals fan, all I can say is "Better them than us"):

Since Aug. 15, New York has watched its lead shrink from 10 1/2 games, losing nine of 15 contests in that span. At the same time, the Red Sox have won 13 of 15, including a 10-7 victory over the Anaheim Angels on Tuesday in Boston.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the largest lead held by a team that failed to finish first was 11 games by the 1995 California Angels.
