08/30/2004: Here's why....
baseball is perceived as being a bit statistics mad. According to a story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch yesterday, Cardinals outfielder Reggie Sanders is the only player in the history of Major League Baseball to hit 20+ home runs with six different teams. But if that doesn't strike you as being demented statistical mania, the story goes on to state that Sanders is the only active player (and possibly the only player ever) to strike out 100+ times with six different teams.
Got a feeling some folks have way too much time on their hands?

You left out the word "active" from the Post-Dispatch story.
Scriveners should not be a nopn-inclusive bunch.
I like Martin Gardner, but prefer
Billy.
