08/29/2004: Magic Number "pre-watch":
Not the official posting, but I note that a) the Cards shut out the Pirates, 4-0 (sweeping their series) and b) Houston is ahead of the Cubs by two runs in the top of the eighth. Hopefully, the magic number will be down to 18 when the dust clears.
UPDATE: As of right now (4:15 PM, CDT) the 'stros are leading the Cubs by six runs with only one out in the top of the eighth. Really tempting to make the Magic Number watch official....
