08/27/2004: I signed; you should too....
Donald Rumsfeld has "taken responsibility" for the scandals at Abu Ghuraib, yet he remains Secretary of Defense.
That's not right. In any other civilized nation (Great Britain, for instance), a Cabinet minister who "took responsibility" for such a disaster would tender his resignation along with his statement acknowledging his responsibility.
If "accountability" means anything, Rumsfeld must be removed as Secretary of Defense. If he won't do the right thing and resign, then he should be dragged kicking and screaming from his Pentagon office.
Sign the petition.

Didn't Janet Reno accept responsibility for Waco? And hey, 80-odd people died there, including children. Yet she continued to serve Clinton and was even reappointed. So, let's chill a bit here, d00d.

So Reno should have resigned or been fired for Waco; I have no problem with that. That doesn't change the fact that Rumsfeld is responsible for what happened at Abu Ghuraib. If he was an honorable man (which, of course, he isn't, but why should he be different from anyone else in the bAdministration), he'd resign. And since he hasn't he should be removed.
But I never knew you were one of Reno's fans; will wonders never cease?
