[« Ya gotta like these odds.....] [Thought for the Day: »]
07/20/2004: Some days, you know you should have called in sick....
Today was a busy day at the job, as there were a few virus problems I needed to take care of. That managed to get done, but it diverted my attention from the more important thing: the Cardinals were playing the Cubs at Wrigley in the last meeting of the two clubs before the postseason (assuming both teams make the postseason). When I was called away from my computer (and the streaming MLB "gameday" updates), the Cards had managed to erase an early 8-1 deficit to trail 8-7. When I came home, I was elated to see that a homer by Prince Albert Pujols put the Cards ahead (capping a game where Phat Al went 5-5 and tying a career high 3 homers in one game), and they prevailed 11-8, putting the Cubs ten games behind in the NL Central (and the Cubs are [UPDATE, 7/21/04 were--I've gotten a look at the standings this morning] the second-place team in the division).
Life is sweet, at least for now.
