Dark Bilious Vapors

If today's Dr. Science newsletter is to be believed, today hits a grand slam of sorts. First, today is the 57th anniversary of the alleged Roswell UFO incident (which really didn't happen quite as the true believers think, but we won't spoil a good thing with a lot of dull skepticism here, at least not today), and because of that it's also "World UFO Day" (hey, even the true believers deserve their holiday, of sorts). And today is also the mutual birthday of baseball player Jose Canseco and Wendy's Hamburgers founder Dave Thomas.

Interesting baseball trivia: if you follow the link above, you'll learn that Jose Canseco actually racked up one inning as a pitcher in 1993. He didn't get a decision (most likely he was brought in in a blowout situation when his team, the Texas Rangers, had already run through its bullpen), and he gave up two hits and three earned runs for a career ERA of 27.00.
