06/14/2004: Actually, I predicted this months ago....
Apparently, not long ago (like, literally within the last two hours) the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow (which, I'm sure, you're probably more familiar with as "the Pledge of Allegiance case"). As I expected, it ducked the substantive issue by ruling (8-0!) that Newdow, a non-custodial parent who (IIRC) has never married the mother of the child in question (and who is apparently involved in a protracted custody fight with the mother) lacks legal standing to bring his suit.
I wish I could say that this is evidence of superior legal acumen on my part. In reality, it was a pretty much a no-brainer.
