05/24/2004: Reminiscences of 1944....
Over at The Cardinals Birdhouse there's a rundown on last weeks 20th anniversary meeting of the St. Louis Browns Fan Club and celebration of the 1944 World Series--the "streetcar series" featuring the St. Louis Cardinals versus the St. Louis Browns (and the only time in the history of the Browns franchise that they ever won the AL championship). The fun part is that they have some pictures of the event, including pictures of Stan "the Man" Musial (who played for the Cardinals in the '44 Series) and Marty Marion (former Cardinals star shortstop who managed the Browns during their last season in St. Louis in 1953).
