05/24/2004: Great days in history:
Today (or should I say tonight?) is the 69th anniversary of the first night game to be played in Major League Baseball, between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds at Crosley Field in Cincinnati on May 24, 1935. Edgar Brands, who was editor of The Sporting News at the time, wrote: "I think it was evident to everyone there that this was a night which would usher in a new era of baseball. You could tell that night that baseball had come in like a tidal wave."
