05/22/2004: Watching the commercials....
which Fox is showing for their upcoming shows in-between innings of the Cards-Cubs game today, I'm coming to the conclusion that but for their sports programming, The Simpsons, and King of the Hill, Fox would be a complete and utter waste of their share of the electromagnetic spectrum. I can't think of one show that they've promoted during the ball game this afternoon that I would be in the least interested in watching.
That they're still in business strikes me as a sad commentary on the tastes of the American public.

Weird, Len. I was thinking the exact same thing today. It was bad enough playing "dueling televisions" with my wife today... Me with the Cubs/Cards game, and her with the Lifetime for Women.
I kept comparing Fox to lifetime.

What bugs me is that you can hardly see the baseball game during a Fox broadcast for all the banners that pop up, back ground ads and all the mentions by announcers of Fox TV programming

Tell me about it. And frankly (and somewhat surprisingly, considering that he got his start broadcasting Cardinals games and who his father was) I'm getting real close to thinking that Joe Buck should be hung in effigy--except that it'd be a waste of a perfectly good effigy.

I say we hang Joe Buck period. Forget about effigy.
