05/13/2004: I take it back. Or rather, I transfer it...
In a post yesterday I referred to "the idiots at Time-Warner", branding them idiots for deciding to show the Anaheim-New York game vice the Atlanta-St. Louis game on ESPN2. Today I got a very nice response to several indignant emails I sent to TW (via their website) complaining about this; apparently the game was blacked out in Memphis per MLB restrictions.
If that's the case (and I have no reason to believe it isn't), it's stupid IMHO to include Memphis in the blackout area for a Cardinals home game (after all, if I've made plans to drive 4.5 hours to attend a ballgame at Busch Stadium it's not like I'm going to cancel them just because the game will be showing on ESPN2 at home). But that's in keeping with some of the other idiotic decisions of MLB under the rule of Bud Selig, so suddenly everything makes sense. And I'm more than happy to transfer my irritation from Time Warner to Bud.
